CONNOR RANCH RECOVERY CONTRACT
Connor Ranch Recovery is an organization committed
to helping you achieve your desire to live a drug free life. By admitting yourself, you have expressed a desire for a better
way of life.
Many treatment centers focus on what went wrong in your life. Here at Connor Ranch Recovery, you'll find our
focus is on what needs to happen to make things right. We focus on recovery, not disease. To maintin this focus, recovery-based
behavior will be expected.
At Connor Ranch Recovery, you are responsible for your recovery. We will provide the tools and encouragement.
We cannot give you recovery, but we can encourage you to accept responsibility and find recovery yourself.
The following is not intended to overwhelm you.. only to let you know what is expected:
SCHEDULE:
You will be give a copy of the schedule and one is posted in each house.
You are expected to attend all activities, on time, unless previously excused by a counselor. Groups and lectures are mandatory,
not optional, for all residents. If you are in sober living, you are expected to be working, attending school, volunteering
or attending groups. Your schedule will be determined on an individual basis.
GROUPS & LECTURES:
You are expected to be on time at all groups and lectures
and have proper paper and pencil with you. Once a group or lecture has begun, you are requested to remain in the room until
it is completed. If you need to leave the room, do not disrupt the group further by returning. Instead, make arrangements
with the group leader to obtain material as to what was discussed in your absence.
Quick Tip:
"Most people retain less than 10% of what they hear after 3 weeks, so you will find it helpful to your
recovery to have notes you can refer to later. You cheat yourself by not jotting down new ideas when you hear them"
STAFF:
There will be a resident manager assigened to each house. This person
is there to answer questions, provide for your safety and see that all guidelines are adhered to. Get to know this person
and learn from their experience. You will also be assigned a counselor. This is the person you have Individual therapy with,
talk to about problems and solutions and ask for permission for activities not on the printed schedule. If this person is
not available, ask one of the other staff members. Your counselor will not come to you and say: "It's time to talk". A big
part of recovery is learning to get your needs met. We recommend that you request a minimum of one individual session per
week with your counselor.
12 STEP PARTICIPATION:
We believe that 12 step participation (NA, AA, CA, AL-ANON) is essential to recovery. We also believe that it is not fair to focus only on the 12 step program and charge you treatment
prices for what you can get for free in self-help groups. As a group, you will attend a minimum of one 12 step meeting every
week. At these meetings, you are expected to be attentive, participate and select an individual as a temporary sponsor. You
are to call your sponsor daily and begin working your steps with that person. You will not be working your steps as part of
your group work, so it is imperative that you begin with your sponsor as soon as possible. Appropriate 12 step literature
will be made readily available. You are expected to read it.
Quick Tip: "We
ask that you choose a sponser of the same gender. You are at a vulnerable time in your life, we understand that recovery can
be difficult at times. We have found that due to this state of vulerability, it is important to your recovery that, during
this time, you refrain from beginning any new relationships. Those who are married or already in a relationship, having a
sponsor of the opposite gender could cause serious problems and lead to your relapse."
LEAVING PREMISES:
It is important that the staff know where you are at all times.
If you would like to leave the grounds for any reason other than those listed on the schedule, make sure you have permission
from the on-duty staff and be sure to log it in the Sign In/Out ledger. Leaving the premises without permission will have
consequences.
VISITATION:
Connor Ranch Recovery does not have regular visitation hours. However,
visits from family and friends can be arranged through your counselor. All visits must have previous arrangements. There are
"Drop-Bys". When permission is given and the visit arranged, there can be no more than 4 visitors at a time. Small children
are not to be left unattended. Visits are to be in the common living areas ONLY (Living Room, Den, Patio). Any visitors found
in the residents living area will be asked to leave and could result in denial of future visits.
FOOD:
Connor Ranch Recovery believes that there is more to healthy living than
just abstinence from alcohol and other drugs. An important part of the teaching we do takes part in the kitchen. Many residents
have never had to be responsible for food preparation or clean-up. Residents will be given the responsibility to plan and
prepare their own meals. Weekly supervised trips to the market will be noted on the house schedule. You will be allowed one
trip per week. We recommend that prior to leaving the grounds, you make a list of all the items you will need for the upcoming
week.
PASSES:
Residents are to submit requests for passes. These requests must be submitted
to the house manager no later than 5pm Wednesday. Staff will discuss and decide on the pass request and inform the resident.
The decision will be based on therapeutic assessment and on the reason for the pass. Passes submitted late will not be considered.
Factors entering into the decision are: program participation, motivation, length of time in the program, purpose for the
pass, who the pass will be with, and insurance or medial restrictions, therapeutic safety of pass and any other information
available to staff. Passes for activities during the week will be considered on a limited and individual basis.
CHORES:
An important part of recovery is learning to live with others in a cooperative
and healthy manner. Part of that interaction is chores. The chores will be divided fairly. Chores are to be completed on a
daily basis. Major house cleaning will take place Wednesday evenings. Everyone is expected to complete their assignment in
a timely manner. Each resident will be responsible for keeping their living area clean. Restrooms will be free from toiletries.
All toiletries are to be kept in the residents living area.
We are confident that by following our rules and guidelines, you are already on your way to recovery!
